You don't need a BMW, or any German luxury brand, to park like a prick
I came across this at the bank today, some jerkoff in a stanced (on Audi rims, OEM+ Bitches!) R32 took up 2 spots at the bank, while the ENTIRE lot was full. I was lucky enough to get there as 2 other cars pulled out.
Newsflash, your R32 isn't cool enough or expensive enough to warrant taking up 2 spots, get that shit out of here.
If I had more room on the pass side of his car I would have wedged my truck in the end spot just to make a point.

Was that even a real R32?

Assuming the passenger side spot wasn't covered 1/4 or more in snow, then yes, asshat. If it was covered in snow making it useless, then that's just clever winter parking.

its 34 and raining out, that snow is like almost a week old already. The snow you see left is up on the mulch not in the spot.

I drive an R32, and I do like to think it's pretty special thank you very much! Also, they are pretty pricey to be quite honest, especially for the person who bought it. I find the roof rack (crate? You want room to take all your exploring gear in your awd car, yet are lowered, I don't get it) to be offensive.
However, I only take up one spot. I never like parking directly next to people, especialy with people in the backseat, so I can open the door the entire way. Usually I'll park next to poles or something where I can get nice and snug and not worry about people parking like crap next to me. More often than not I just park a bit further back and walk.

Is any vehicle expensive enough to override ass-hat parking rules? I say no.

parking away from people is one thing, parking close to the building, taking up 2 close spots, while the lot is packed, in the rain, is a completely different story.

I agree.
I think the people who park exotics in two spots are stupid. They reduce the chance of door dings but they increase their chances of getting keyed by 1000%.
So it's not only rude to park that way, it's self-defeating.

See I dunno. If you drop coin on some rare car are you then exempt from normal rules? You bought the thing, why do you get a pass because of monetary status.

If I had a beater truck (or car with enough clearance) I would have put 2 wheels up on the curb and left him inches. Hell, when I was still driving my beater Cavalier I exited the car through the trunk just to prove a point.

Would I do it? No
Would I understand it? Yes, but I still wouldn't do it. Because I know theirs always the chance of some jerk coming by and keying our car out of spite.
I think its more acceptable in some six figure car than something like a daewoo. People are often dicks in parking lots. I'd be pretty pissed if someone put a 6" gash in my supercar or six figure luxury car after they park their 15 year old civic next to me and throw the door open.
IMO its all depends on the situation. If someone takes up 2 spots in the back of a half empty parking lot, then I don't really care. If they take up 2 spots right in the front of the building, busy or not, its pretty shitty.

In the case of some rare exotic, I like to think it's for your own good. If some geriatric pulls up in the spot next to me and swings their door into mine, their retirement savings will be paying for a door ding.

To be completely honest, I find roof baskets (like this guys) to be very functional when they are used to haul stuff that you can't fit in your car. Looks like this guy has it on there for looks... I hate that shit

I agree. If you're taking an expensive car out in public, it's not a matter if it will get scratched, it's a matter of WHEN. That's the risk you're willing to take if you take it out in public. I don't mean to sound redundant, but if you don't want your nice car ruined, don't take it out in public. Keep it in the garage, driveway, and only take it out on some back roads. I'm talking exotics.

That's how I feel as well. I can understand if you just honestly think it looks cool, but so many people are putting racks/baskets on stanced cars just because everyone else is.
